Stand Your Ground In California
California has no specific “stand your ground” statute, but numerous court cases establish that someone acting in lawful self-defense has no duty to retreat. Force must be reasonably necessary, and deadly force requires a reasonable belief that it is immediately necessary to prevent death or great bodily injury.
