The AR 15, America’s most popular rifle, is a very versatile platform. The control system, while not intuitive, is very efficient. The bolt carrier group is secured to the rear when the charging handle is pulled to the rear and the bolt catch is depressed at the bottom. Pressing the top of the bolt catch releases the bolt carrier group forward. The selector switch rotates to either the safe position or the semi automatic fire position. The magazine release on the right side is pushed inward to remove the magazine.
