Deadly Force In California

You have the right to use lethal force when you believe your life or well-being or the life or well-being of another person is in jeopardy. You may use force, but not lethal force to protect property. Deadly force is what a reasonable person would perceive as the force which is capable of killing or causing permanent damage to another person. The definition and application of deadly force is different from state to state.
