Should you fire a warning shot?

Writer's picture: Mike PettengillMike Pettengill

You should never fire a warning shot? A warning shot is an irresponsible action. If you fired into the ground, you cannot guarantee that it will not ricochet and harm another person. If you fire into the air, you don’t know where it’s coming down. There are moral, legal and ethical problems with firing a warning shot. There is too much unknown that can result from firing the warning shot. It is an irresponsible action. You will never be able to guarantee where that round goes.
