Many people bury the stock of any rifle deep into their shoulder to help absorb the recoil. This originates from the shooting of large caliber rifles. However, the AR 15 has very little recoil. To shoulder the AR 15 place the toe of the stock into the soft pocket of your shoulder between the ball and the clavicle. Rotate the toe in the soft pocket like a pivot point as you raise the rifle up and down. This allows for proper cheekbone and comb alignment when raising your AR 15. If you drop the stock way down low into your shoulder, you won’t be able to properly align your optic system.
